[조이누리 기자단] Busan Museum of Art (부산시립미술관) - 예유나

안녕하세요?  부산 해운대구 센텀중학교 1학년에 재학 중인 예유나입니다. 어릴 때부터 영어를 좋아했고, 특히 2011-2012년 아빠가 2년간 미국 캘리포니아 UC Irvine에 교환교수로 계실 때 함께 얼바인에 거주하면서 초등 4~6학년 시절을 보냈습니다. 미국에 있는 동안 정말 많은 여행을 다녔고 특히 60여개의 박물관을 방문했답니다. 더불어 학교 수업도 열심히 해서 Advanced class에서 공부했구요, SCCC (Southern California Children’s Chorus)의 단원으로서도 활약했답니다. 현재는 센텀중학교를 대표하여 부산 영어도서관의 Reading Star (영어독서 선도위원)으로 활약하고 있습니다. 앞으로의 꿈은 외교관 또는 통역사이기에 특히 조인어스월드에서 소중한 봉사활동을 할 수 있게 되서 정말 감사합니다~ 조이누리 기자단 예유나님에게 글남기기: 바로가기

Hello, my name is Yuna.  This is my third article about Korean museums. I’d like to get you to know Busan Museum of Art (부산시립미술관). This museum opened in 1998 and it displays the arts from various genres. It is actively involved in international exchanges with other countries. Especially, Masterpieces of Modern Korean Painting has been held from April 4th and it will be finished on August 17th. This exhibition features one hundred color ink and oil paintings produced by fifty seven Korean painters from 1920s to 1970s. In the early twentieth century, Korean artists had to overcome the Japanese occupation, the Pacific War, the World War II, and Korean War. Nevertheless, they continued to pursue their artistic desire.

I’d like to introduce several famous modern Korean artists and their artworks. Joongsub Lee drew many paintings during his lifetime. He made great contributions to the introduction of western styles in Korea. He is very famous for Ox. Soogun Park is a leader of Korean modern art and the winner of many prizes. His auction record stands at $ 5.3million for Wash Place.

Whanki Kim belongs to the first generation of Korean abstract artists. His famous painting is Mountain and Moon. Kyungja Chun has been one of the great modern artists in Korea. In particular, she is unique in producing colorful pictures. She is very famous for Sister Gilrae.

This museum also provides educational courses for adults and children. You can get more information at art.busan.go.kr and they serve in Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and English. You can take a walk at outdoor sculpture garden. There are Bexco, Shinsegae Department Store, and Lotte Department Store near this museum.

After I went to this art museum, I was amazed of how the pictures during this time were good and sometimes beautiful. I didn’t think that there were so many good Korean paintings during this time because of hardship of living through wars and aftermaths, but the time I had in this museum was thought to be great.
