[조이누리 기자단] 이유나-⑥Learning English Easily, Early, and Eagerly

For instance, one of the semester curriculums include an English mock trial for students. The directions divide the class into three groups: the jury, the defense, and the prosecution. A case file along with materials needed for the class is provided for each group from police reports to affidavits. Students are actively encouraged to discuss with their own group to come up with a strategy in English. Then, they are required to argue with the other side to prove the defendant guilty or innocent. Each side provides witnesses who are also played by students. Then, the students who play the jury also come up with the verdict and the justification for the verdict. This curriculum is carried out over 8 weeks, and students are graded not only on their final performance but participation in discussions, communication with groups, and initiative.
