This does not simply mean that Belgians get The Simpsons on their TV. The implications are much more significant. It primarily implies that children and teenagers are exposed to English programs in a highly focused and interested environment. It is very likely that teenagers and children will encounter English as a very friendly subject. Moreover, because children and teenagers want entertainment, they are nudged into voluntarily searching for more English based entertainment.

For instance, pop stars and celebrities are entertainment for adults and teenagers. Especially for teenagers, entertainment and culture is centered on their favorite show, movie star, or pop star. Just as any Korean girl would look for pictures and articles on Korean idol stars, Belgian teenagers would do so for American stars and read English articles. Teenagers who want to better understand lines from their favorite show voluntarily go on the net to search English expressions and their usage. Entertainment gives them a voluntary start on engaging in language activities.
