They greeted me with hugs and spoke to me in English naturally. I was shocked and jealous at the same time. As a 16 year old student in Korea who studied English for a decade now, it was hard for me to accept seeing my young cousins speak English without any hesitation or awkward pauses when I couldn’t even speak English fluently. My jealousy grew when I couldn’t find any signs that they were going to elite institutes to learn English or couldn’t even find English books in their backpacks. To top it all off, my cousins told me that they did not even start learning English in school yet.
