예유나 - ⑧ Musee du Louvre

Hello, my name is Yuna, and this is my eighth article about museums. I’d like to show you the Louvre museum. Originally the Louvre was a simple defensive fortress for a long time as one of the main residence of French kings. It became a museum in 1793, and now exhibits are there nearly 35,000 objects from prehistory to the 21^st century. The oldest one is over seven thousand years. The museum collections are grouped into eight curatorial departments: Egyptian Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities; Near Eastern Antiquities; Islamic Art; Paintings; Sculptures; Decorative Arts; and Prints and Drawings.

You are about to enter the Louvre, the world’s largest and most-visited museum, drawing nearly 10 million people each year. It is used for education, to preserve and pass on our heritage to future generations.

The Louvre Web site offers a lot of trails with different kinds of topics to give you an overview of the museum’s collections. They can be viewed online or printed out to a museum visit. You want more information? Then visit at www.louvre.fr.

Although I got lost by the winding staircases confusing me, I have enjoyed the time spending at Louvre seeing all the famous pictures that I only heard them about. Why, the Mona Lisa made me bursting glee! You would be sure to check out the cool pictures sometime.
